Droplet collapse during strongly supercooled transitions

چکیده
We simulate the decay of isolated, spherically symmetric droplets in a cosmological phase transition. It has long been posited that such heated metastable state could form, and they have recently observed 3D multibubble simulations. In those simulations, were associated with reduction wall velocity decrease kinetic energy fluid, consequent suppression gravitational wave power spectrum. present work, we track speed production isolated compare them to found collisions. The late-time velocities observe match though find spherical simulations are poor predictor production. This implies be used refine baryogenesis predictions due formation droplets, but not estimate any accompanying signal.

Entropic Aspects of Supercooled Droplet Freezing*
We estimate a lower bound on the amount of latent heat liberated by freezing droplets. Based on a physical picture of the freezing process, we arrive at an estimate for the effective latent heat (calculated along a reversible path), suitable for heat budget calculations of glaciating clouds. In addition, we arrive at a quadratic dependence on supercooling for the irreversible contribution to he...
متن کاملStrongly triggered collapse model confront observations
Detailed modelling of individual protostellar condensations, is important to test the various theories. Here we present comparisons between strongly induced collapse models with one young class-0, IRAS4A in the Perseus cloud and one prestellar cloud observed in the Coalsack molecular cloud.
متن کاملSupercooled liquids, glass transitions, and the Kauzmann paradox
Many liquids have heat capacities that substantially exceed those of the corresponding crystal, and this discrepancy magnifies in the supercooled regime. Thus, liquid entropy declines more rapidly with temperature than does crystal entropy, and the former paradoxically seems to fall below the latter for temperatures below the Kauzmann point TK • Although laboratory glass transitions inevitably ...
متن کاملFirst Order Phase Transitions in Gravitational Collapse
In recent numerical simulations of spherically symmetric gravitational collapse a new type of critical behaviour, dominated by a sphaleron solution, has been found. In contrast to the previously studied models, in this case there is a finite gap in the spectrum of black-hole masses which is reminiscent of a first order phase transition. We briefly summarize the essential features of this phase ...
متن کاملPhase transitions in isolated strongly interacting systems
Thermodynamical properties of nuclear matter at sub-saturation densities were investigated using a simple van der Waals-like equation of state with an additional term representing the symmetry energy. First-order isospin-asymmetric liquid-gas phase transition appears restricted to isolated isospin-asymmetric systems while the symmetric systems will undergo fragmentation decay resembling the sec...
